Our Impact

Curating Comfort. Creating Change.

At Maylyn & Co., we pride ourselves on our smart, innovative, and green approach to production. Our commitment to sustainability centers on crafting garments that are not only beautifully designed but also built to last. We don't follow fleeting trends; instead, we focus on quality craftsmanship and classic aesthetics. Our sustainability ethos isn't just a claim—it's a core part of who we are.

Our People

Values

We operate on the foundational principles of dignity, trust, and fairness. These values are not just words to us; they're the cornerstone of everything we do. We believe that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their role in our supply chain. We are dedicated to sourcing supplies with utmost consideration for social impacts and sustainability. Our procurement process meticulously evaluates suppliers, prioritizing those who demonstrate a steadfast commitment to social responsibility. We scrutinize each stage of production, from the extraction of raw materials to the final production of components, ensuring that the health, safety, and working conditions of workers are upheld, and that local communities are respected. Transparency in production processes, along with thorough assessment and reporting of social impacts, are key criteria for supplier selection. Additionally, we favor suppliers certified by recognized third-party assessors. Furthermore, we take into account the social values, commitments, and reporting practices of suppliers' parent companies and partners. By adhering to these principles, we endeavor to foster social responsibility and sustainability across our entire supply chain, ensuring that our products are ethically sourced and produced.

Empowerment

We take pride in being founded and run by women, and we deeply value the contributions of women throughout our organization and supply chain. As a female-led company, we understand the importance of supporting and uplifting women in every aspect of our business. In addition to our commitment to women's empowerment, we are equally dedicated to empowering farmers and communities in Persia where our materials are sourced. Through our partnerships with local farmers who employ traditional Shomali techniques, we not only ensure the sustainability of our materials but also support the livelihoods of these artisans. By providing fair wages, fostering skills development, and promoting financial independence, we empower farmers to pursue their passions and contribute to the economic prosperity of their communities.

Wages & Wellness

Our workers' rights and wages policy is rooted in the principle of treating everyone like family. Just as we value and care for our own family members, we extend the same level of care and support to everyone involved in our supply chain. From the farmers cultivating our materials to the artisans crafting our products, each person is integral to our success, and their well-being is paramount. We ensure that all workers receive not just a fair wage, but a living wage that enables them to support themselves and their families comfortably. We are proud to collaborate with a small production team located in the North of Persia, where transparency and ethical business practices are at the forefront of everything they do. The production team goes above and beyond by offering interest-free loans to their employees, allowing them to navigate life's significant milestones with dignity and peace of mind. We hold our suppliers to high ethical standards, ensuring they adhere to the labor criteria outlined in the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Base Code or achieve certification under Social Accountability International's SA8000 Standard. This includes commitments to freedom of choice, association, and collective bargaining, as well as safety, hygiene, and the prohibition of child labor. We also emphasize the importance of living wages, ensuring that workers receive compensation that allows for a decent standard of living. Suppliers must provide up-to-date certification from recognized auditors verifying compliance with these principles.

Inclusion

We're all about family. Our workplace is like a diverse family where everyone is welcome with open arms. We celebrate and embrace individuals from all walks of life, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, women of color, immigrants, and those with mental health challenges or disabilities. Together, we weave a beautiful tapestry of diversity and inclusion that's at the heart of our brand.

Our Supply Chain

Cruelty-free

Traditional silk production involves the boiling alive of silkworms to extract their silk, resulting in immense suffering for these creatures. At our company, we offer a cruelty-free and sustainable alternative to traditional silk. Our production process involves innovative methods that do not harm animals, ensuring that our garments are ethically produced.  In line with our commitment to veganism, all our products and materials are free of any animal-derived products or byproducts. From our soy-based ink to our vegan glues used in packaging, every aspect of our production process reflects our dedication to cruelty-free practices.

Sustainable Farming

Our sustainable farming practices blend modern technology and engineering techniques with centuries of wisdom passed down by local farmers. This harmonious fusion allows us to cultivate the land while minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency. Employing zero waste techniques, every part of the harvest is utilized, ensuring nothing goes to waste. From advanced irrigation systems to innovative crop rotation methods, we strive to enhance productivity while preserving the integrity of the land. By combining the best of both worlds, we honor tradition while embracing innovation, creating a sustainable farming model that benefits both people and planet.

Energy Efficiency

At the manufacturing site in Persia, sustainability is a top priority. Smart machinery and rigorous environmental standards ensure compliance with ISO certification, representing our commitment to energy management and environmental responsibility. Throughout the facility, energy-efficient LED lighting illuminates our operations, significantly reducing energy consumption and minimizing our carbon footprint. This dedication to eco-friendly practices underscores our efforts to operate sustainably and minimize environmental impact.

Sustainable Transportation

With airfreight generating 47 times more greenhouse gases than ocean freight per ton-mile transported, prioritizing ocean freight enables us to take a proactive approach to mitigate our carbon footprint and promote sustainability throughout our supply chain. Hence, we've meticulously selected ocean freight as our primary transportation method from Persia, aligning with our commitment to minimize environmental impact.

Zero-waste

Garments that don't find a home in our regular collection are either donated to local women's shelters or offered to our customers during our Spring Cleaning Sale at half price. By adopting this forward-thinking approach, we're able to eliminate overproduction and minimize waste.

Our Fabrics

Persian Lotus Silk™

Our sustainability journey continues with our signature fabric, Persian Lotus Silk™, sourced from sustainable family farms in Persia. Persian Lotus Silk™, a natural fiber, is 100% animal cruelty-free, reflecting our brand's ethical values. Beyond its cruelty-free nature, Persian Lotus Silk™ stands out for its ability to protect fish and insects in our ecosystem while purifying the water in which it grows. Our eco-friendly fabric contains zero chemical or toxic products, and its manufacturing process is equally sustainable—requiring no gas, electricity, or additional water. Harvested without hazardous pesticides or chemicals, Persian Lotus Silk™ delicate production process ensures minimal environmental impact, reinforcing our brand's commitment to sustainable practices.

Modal

Our Modal fabric is derived from sustainably managed beech forests in Mazandaran, Persia. Organic Modal flourishes from renewable fibers of beech trees, responsibly thinned out rather than cut down—a practice integral to sustainable foresting. The wood undergoes a meticulous process, dissolved in a closed-loop system with non-toxic organic solvents, ensuring minimal environmental impact. Beech trees' low water requirement—10-20 times less than other fabric types—combined with their ability to thrive without artificial irrigation, makes modal production remarkably eco-friendly. Additionally, Modal's production process, akin to viscose but simpler and with reduced toxic waste, relies less on chemicals due to the regenerative nature of beech trees. Plus, modal's complete biodegradability ensures a minimal environmental footprint, aligning with our commitment to eco-conscious practices.

rPET

To increase the endurance of our products, we use recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) as our alternative to polyester fabric. Polyester is not biodegradable and harms the environment, and almost half of the world’s clothing is produced using this fabric. As one of our contributions to sustainable development, we choose to use rPET which is made by recycling plastic waste and water bottles into fibers. This is eco-friendly because recycling one ton of rPET materials saves 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space. With this practice, we also contribute to saving the marine environment as 8 million metric tons of plastic are thrown into the ocean annually. Aside from this, rPET is manufactured using 90% less water, 59% less energy, and 32% less carbon dioxide emissions than other fabrics.

Persian Organic Cotton

Grown in the fertile fields of Persia, Persian cotton is renowned for its exceptional softness, breathability, and strength. What sets Persian Organic Cotton apart is not just its luxurious feel but also the eco-friendly practices used in its cultivation. Our partner farms in Persia adhere to sustainable farming techniques that prioritize soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity. Unlike conventional cotton farming, which often relies on heavy pesticide and fertilizer use, Persian Organic Cotton cultivation emphasizes natural methods to minimize environmental impact. From crop rotation and companion planting to organic pest control, our farmers employ a holistic approach that nurtures the land while producing high-quality cotton.
